Valley Alpacas - Agistment Service

Agistment ServiceAgistment is quite simply the expression used in the alpaca industry to describe the service of temporarily house live stock at a farm, more commonly known as a livery service.

Valley Alpacas are pleased to be able to offer an agistment service on our site at Valley farm, Marksbury, Bath. Under this arrangement we will care for your animals with the same high level of care that we devote to our own animals.

Why use an agistment service?

There are several reasons why an agistment service may be of particular use to you;

  • Unexpected personal circumstances that require your animals to be cared for, possible only for a few days or weeks.
  • You may be moving home, or going on holiday.
  • You want to join this flourishing industry, but don’t currently have the land available to house them.
  • You may have been offered a single animal for sale. Realising that alpacas are herd animals it would be best to introduce them into a herd at the earliest opportunity.
  • You may have a single male that you wish to keep separate from your existing herd of females and don’t have the land or space available.
  • You may be in full-time employment and regular observation of your alpacas, particularly pregnant females may not be possible.

How much does it cost?

Agistment ServiceAgistment rates start at as little as £7 per adult alpaca per week, which covers feed and all routine husbandry tasks. Discounts are available for agistment services where multiple alpacas are involved.

Additional costs incurred by the owner include insurance on your stock, any non-routine veterinary bills or any other special services that you may require.

Additionally, our valued agistment clients automatically receive access to and discounts on mating fees to our selection of top quality stud males.

We can provide as much or as little involvement as you require and enable you the freedom to choose the level of care that meets your needs. Please contact us for an individual quotation.

You are welcome to come and visit us at Valley Farm as often as you wish, although we do require that any visits are made by prior appointment.

Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Alpacas staying with us do so at their owners risk and we recommend that you take out insurance cover.
